Good luck and Happy Holidays!
Going for brevity, tonight. It’s Six Sentence Sunday. This scene from my WIP (sequel to Girl Under Glass) takes place in a small, deep cave where Rachel’s been dumped.
========
Ehtishem sealed the opening and we were cut off from all communication. He rappelled back to the floor and shed his harness.
“You’re a dick,” I said.
“For coming here?”
“For risking your life and maybe leaving Pearl without parents. She’s tough, but she’s not like Ohnenrai kids.”

Thanks and Happy Holidays!
Be sure to come back tomorrow for the first day of the 2012 Holiday Hullabaloo!

Hello friends! It’s Six Sentence Sunday and I’m still featuring my WIP, The Glass Asylum. This comes from a scene following last week’s threats to dump all the Terran men back on Earth but keep the women aboard Dathusha (the Ohnenrai mothership) to act as surrogates for Ohnenrai children. This confrontation takes place in Ehtishem’s office and involves one of the Councilors who’s advocating forced separation. (The Councilor is the first to speak.)
========
“This is an outrageous misuse of your office’s powers, Zosh. I’m warning you—”
“No, you are not. But I’m going to give you a crash course in Terran culture, Sarem. They view interpersonal relationships from a wholly different approach, and I assure you that if you seek to remove the women from the Terran Sector, you will unleash enough violence and unrest to more than disrupt the operations of this ship and destabilize social order. And I will kick you in the testicles so hard they will come out of your nostrils.”
========
You know Ehtishem could do it, too.

This may puzzle some of you since GUG isn’t erotica, although it is romantic. In fact, the love scenes are sensual and implied. But that’s what makes this listing even more awesome! Cara is a well-published erotic romance author and that’s what she reads. The fact that she was so compelled by Girl Under Glass leaves me grinning from ear to ear. Here’s what she had to say about GUG:
For beaming me out of the pages and into another world, Girl Under Glass by Monica Enderle Pierce
A mother who fights to save her daughter following an apocalypse must bring herself to trust a Stranger, a member of the race responsible for it. Girl Under Glass takes place on earth in the near future and on a space ship. The writing is beautiful, the story compelling, and the setting is literally “out of this world.” A sci fi romance. A debut, self-published novel. First in what will be a series.
Check out her full list of favorites here. And if you are an erotic romance reader, Cara’s books are among the best. Highly recommended.
Hiya, Sixers. Thanks for coming back for another Six Sentence Sunday snippet from my romantic sci-fi WIP, The Glass Asylum.

This week’s six come from the same hearing scene as was featured last week. In this case, however, Ehtishem’s second-in-command (his Dvai) suggests a solution to the fight over whether and how the Terran women should be separated from the men aboard the Ohnenrai mother ship. (Ehtishem does not approve of forced separation.)
Translations:
Zant: yes
Fra: sir
========
“There is another solution.” Dvai Vindira said, and Ehtishem turned, surprised that she was voicing an opinion. “Since we are returning to Terra, we can relocate the men to the planet and keep the women aboard.”
Ehtishem crossed his arms and felt the keen blade of betrayal between his shoulder blades as murmurs of approval filled the chamber. “Therefore dooming their species, Dvai?”
Dvai Atala Vindira met his gaze and replied, “Zant, fra, to preserve ours.”

Before I send you off to the official Six Sentence Sunday site, I want to thank those of you who stop by and/or comment every week. I’ve been buried by work and life for the last few months and haven’t been able to make the rounds very diligently or even reply to your comments here. I see them, I appreciate them oh-so-much, and I hope that life will slow down after the holidays enough that I can get back to enjoying all of your work, as well. Merci!
Hi again, Sixers! Welcome back for another Six Sentence Sunday. Once more, I’m posting from my WIP, The Glass Asylum, which is the sequel to Girl Under Glass. This is a direct continuation from last week’s snippet in which Rachel reacts to the news that Ehtishem has visited a former lover. (Before we proceed, I just want to thank those of you who visit every week. I appreciate you taking time out of your busy Sundays to read my work.)
========
I loved Ehtishem. And that love came with sexual devotion. But, in his culture, a trip to the Nest was no more notable than a stop for coffee.
As Khaiv stacked his empty crates, I stared out the kitchen window at the brown planet that Dathusha was orbiting — Ohnenrah. My lover’s home planet was dead. Right then I wished I could feel as lifeless as that ball of dust.

Hello, Sixers! Thanks for coming by on this fine Six Sentence Sunday. I’m posting again from The Glass Asylum, this time a little later in the scene with Ghisga (see last week). Ehtishem’s just learned that it’s safe for him to have sex with Rachel. (I won’t explain why he’s been abstaining ’cause that would be a spoiler and then you’d be mad.)

But he took another large gulp of hot liquid. No it wasn’t [safe] — not for her, not right now. Ehtishem didn’t trust his self-control. If he did what he ached to do — chuck the cup and saucer over his shoulder, run headlong back to his quarters, and bury himself in Rachel — he’d injure and terrify her. Rachel’s trust was still tenuous. Another reason he shouldn’t be sitting in Ghisga’s quarters.

Poor guy.

Hiya Sixers! Well, fifteen Six Sentence Sunday posts later, we’re about to finish the opening confrontation from Girl Under Glass. Rachel must decide if she’s gonna shoot the alien soldier or help him. Last week he proved that he was unarmed.
========
I lowered the gun but didn’t put the safety back on. “Pearl?”
Behind me, the cottage door creaked. “Yes, Momma?”
“Set the cot by the hearth and get my medical bag. We’ve got a customer.”
========
The first act of trust is now complete.

I hope you’ll take a look at the official Six Sentence Sunday participants list here. Lots of great writing waiting to be sampled.
Hellooo, again, Sixers. Welcome back for another Six Sentence Sunday installment from the first chapter of Girl Under Glass. Last week, Rachel’s alien visitor silenced the dogs, now what?
(First speaker is Rachel.)
========
“Show me your leg.”
The Ohnenran lifted his pant leg to reveal a swollen gash running the length of his shin. His calf bulged over the rim of his boot and the flesh was purple and black. How he’d managed to hobble around on that thing, I couldn’t imagine.
As he straightened, I said, “Remove your jacket, lift your shirt, empty your pockets, turn around.”
He did, and there was nothing but dirt and lint and bruises.

Welcome back, Sixers, for another Six Sentence Sunday excerpt from Girl Under Glass.
So, last Sunday was annoying — criminal activity in my hood. (No, I was not involved, you cheeky monkeys. And, yes, we’re unscathed, but the neighbor’s place was not.) The end result is that I didn’t get to respond to your comments, so I’m doing it en masse. You. Are. Awesome! (Man, I’m not sure about another group hug. I’m kinda leery ’cause one of you grabbed my ass last week. Erotica writers, you know I’m talking about you. o.O)
Okay, on with it. Picking up from the last post. Here’s the alien soldier’s response to Rachel’s threat to remove his head with her shotgun.
========
His chin lifted as he folded his arms and looked down at me, his face a blank canvas. I didn’t doubt that the Ohnenrai people’s emotional detachment had made it easy to kill billions of Terrans.
The dogs, baring and gnashing their teeth, advanced. The man eyed my protectors. “Varet!” The word boomed from him even as he remained expressionless.
